Empowering postpartum nurses with the knowledge, skills & confidence to take the lead to address the maternal health crisis.

Women are dying at an alarming rate in the United States from pregnancy related complications. In 2021, the CDC determined that 84% of those deaths were preventable and over 53% of them occur in the postpartum period once they have already been discharged home. Lack of provider and patient educator have been cited as contributing causes. Postpartum nurses are perfectly positioned to bridge this gap through postpartum discharge education and postpartum follow up, however many nurses expressed gaps in their own knowledge and skills making them less confident in providing this education.
